‘Park After Dark’ winter hike offered at Lone Pine State Park

KALISPELL — On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from  7:30-9 p.m. experience Lone Pine State Park on a wintery night on this full moon hike. Moon views vary depending on cloud cover, but you’re guaranteed a nighttime adventure that experiences the park after hours. Be sure to dress for the weather. Trails are typically icy at this time of year, so wear micro spikes like Yaktrax if there’s snow on the ground. We’ll have snowshoes available if needed. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. Cost is $4 per hiker ($8 entry fee for non-resident vehicles).

 

‘Prepare to be Bear Aware’ education class offered at Lone Pine

 

 

KALISPELL — On Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, you can learn safety tips and tools to keep people safe and bears wild as they emerge from their dens this spring. Join us as we share practical strategies designed to minimize bear-human conflicts and promote coexistence. From securing garbage bins to proper food storage techniques, we will share provide invaluable insights into creating bear-resistant environments. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and take action for the well-being of all. Registration is required as space is limited. There is no charge for this program. Arlee to hold free screening clinic

ARLEE — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Arlee School District will be held on Oct. 29, 2024, from 9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at Arlee Elementary School. This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

Attend ‘Here Comes the Sun’ Concert

POLSON — The Polson Fairground Amphitheatre is the site of the “Here Comes the Sun” concert. This concert celebrates the sounds and songs of the Beatles at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be on site at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

 

Church holds annual Craft Fair/Garage Sale

POLSON - The fourth annual vendor/craft fair and garage sale will take place from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave. E. A hot dog lunch will be available for $2 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information call 406-250-1061. 

 

Country Jam, dances cancelled

POLSON — Our Classic Country Jammin’ scheduled for April 5, at the Elks Ballroom in Polson is cancelled until further notice. Wednesday night dances at the Elks’ ballroom in Polson are also cancelled until further notice. We pray that everyone is staying home and being safe. We do have to go out for essentials and that is okay. Lake City Bakery, McDonalds and Burgerville are open in Polson for take outs. We are all in this together and need to help each other wherever we can, physically or financially. Please encourage one another and we will all get through this. Don’t be prideful and not ask for help, if you really need it. This hardship we are going through may take a little time but if we all work together and for each other, it will pass. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Donation day planned at library

POLSON —Friends of the Library will hold their donation day on Nov. 2 for the month of November. You can donate up to two boxes of books per donation. Sign up for Good Old Days’ tennis tournament

ST. IGNATIUS — St. Ignatius’ Good Old Days Tennis Tournament starts on Thursday July 19, at 5:30 p.m. and continues on Friday, at 12:30 p.m. (and on Saturday at 3 p.m. if there are enough entries needing Saturday play). There will be singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Junior division is for 12- to 18-year-old players and the adult division for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Registration deadline is midnight on Friday, July 13. You will be called or emailed with first starting times by Tuesday, July 17. ST. IGNATIUS — Little Miss and Mr. Good Old Days Pageant will take place on Friday, July 20. The theme this year is the ‘50s. Kiddos of all ages from birth to 17 are welcome. Check us out or register online at: missionmountainpageants@ weebly. com or you can call 406-396- 7838. At 4 p.m. there will be a dessert baking contest. From 5-7 p.m. enjoy a barbecue for $10 for adults and $6 for kids under 12. Big toys events will take place from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and a Farmers Market will be held from 5-7 p.m. Jeff Daniels will provide a free concert at the Amphitheater at 7:30 p.m. A tennis tournament begins at 5:30 p.m. at the St. Ignatius High School tennis courts.

Buffalo Run to be held in St. Ignatius

ST. IGNATIUS — St. Luke Community Healthcare’s 36th annual Buffalo Run will be held July 21 and consists of a 1-mile, 4-mile, 7-mile and half marathon runs. The half marathon starts promptly at 7 a.m. with the other races starting at 8 a.m. The annual run begins in front of Gamble’s Hardware and the course is in and around the town of St. Ignatius and is mostly flat. Entry forms are available on the St. Luke website: stlukehealthcare.org or by calling 406-528-532.

Class of ‘63 joins Good Old Days Parade

ST. IGNATIUS — During Good Old Days the Mission class of 1963 will have a float in the parade at noon on July 21. Then they will meet at the Olmsteds’ at 4 p.m. to visit and enjoy an Amish chicken dinner and fresh baked pies at 5 p.m. The meal will cost around $7or $8 apiece. Bring your own beverages. Pancakes start off Good Old Days events

ST. IGNATIUS — A pancake breakfast will take place from 7-11 a.m. at the senior center. The 34th annual Buffalo Run begins with the half-marathon at 7 a.m. sharp. The 1, 4, and 7 mile runs start at 8 a.m. on the corner of Main and Mountain View Drive. The Good Old Days parade begins at noon. Dog races and lawn mower races are at 1 p.m. and big toys and the climbing wall events are from 1-4 p.m. Family games are at 2 p.m. and a tug-owar is at 2:30 p.m. Enjoy bingo at the senior center from 2-4 p.m. Uke Jam is at 3 p.m. A pizza eating contest is at 7:30 p.m. and the new “Jumanji” movie will be shown at dusk. Tennis contest continues at 5:30 p.m.

Fly-in at St. Ignatius airport

ST. IGNATIUS — From 8 a.m.-noon there will be a fly-in at the St. Ignatius airport. A large display of aircraft, door prizes and huckleberry pancakes, biscuits and gravy, eggs and more top off the event.
